Frequently Asked Questions

What should I wear to my InfraRed Sauna session? Wear loose, comfortable clothing to your session as you will be very hot and sweaty afterwards.

What should I bring with me? Please be sure to read the Consent Form and especially the Contraindications form, and sign them both prior to your session. Remember to bring them with you (if you have not returned them via email prior to your session). Also bring water and a sports drink or electrolyte-replacing drink with you. We suggest that you do not plan to use your mobile during your session and set it to silent, so that you can relax completely and enjoy the benefits of your session. This is special time for you, not for work.

Should I drink water before my session? It is important to keep well hydrated at all times, especially if you are having an InfraRed Sauna session. Drink at least 8 oz of water prior to your InfraRed Sauna session, and at least 8 oz of water afterwards. Continue drinking increased amounts of water to keep yourself hydrated. It is a good idea to bring an electrolyte-replacing water or a sports drink with you to drink afterwards.

Following Your Session Many toxins are excreted from your body in your sweat. It’s important to remove sweat immediately following your session to ensure toxins are not reabsorbed. If you can’t shower straight away (shower facility will be available in our new therapy rooms), use a towel to wipe yourself down and shower when you get home.

What is the temperature of the InfraRed Sauna? The optimal InfraRed Sauna experience occurs between Level 1-6 (38°C-58° C). High heat is not required to provide the benefits of Infrared. The sauna is not designed to run at high heat 63° C + for long periods.

If you have not had an InfraRed Sauna before it is best to start at a lower temperature setting (Level 3-4). During your session you have access to the temperature control pad, so you can gradually increase the temperature if you feel comfortable to do so. You can begin at a higher temperature (Level 6) in later sessions as your body becomes used to it. Level 6 is the recommended setting.

How long should I be in the InfraRed Sauna? Recommended session time is 40-45 minutes, however you may finish the session at any time. Everyone has different preferences and tolerances for heat. If you feel too hot, get out or turn the temperature down. If you begin to feel excessive detoxifying symptoms such as nausea, fatigue, or flu-like symptoms during your sauna session, discontinue use immediately. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS TO LISTEN TO YOUR BODY especially for your first few sessions.

Are InfraRed Saunas effective? Sunlighten InfraRed Saunas are seven times more effective than a traditional sauna to sweat out your toxins. In an InfraRed Sauna, your body releases toxins trapped in your fat cells and releases them through sweat.

Traditional saunas provide heating at a surface level to promote sweating. Sunlighten InfraRed Saunas are designed to help you sweat deeper by penetrating to a cellular level, enabling your body to remove the toxins which may assist in relieving symptoms of illness, prevent future illness and increase overall health and vitality.

Is an InfraRed Sauna Safe? Sunlighten saunas are completely safe measuring an average of 0.5mG - lower than 95% of common household devices and well below the industry standard of an ‘extremely low EMF reading of 10.0mG’ (results of EMF level testing by world-renowned EMF research experts, VitaTech Electro-Magnetics). These results give you the confidence to enjoy your Sunlighten InfraRed Sauna session without compromise.
